Gympie is a well serviced town on the Bruce Highway north of Brisbane handy to Fraser Island, Rainbow Beach and the Mary River Valley. It is the home of the famous ‘Gympie Muster’ Country & Western Music Festival.
Gympie was a common stop for me during the Gayndah fruit picking season as it would break the drive between Ballina and Gayndah. It was a comfortable stop after negotiating the busy Highway through the Gold Coast and Brisbane. To get to Gayndah I would turn left onto the South Burnett Highway about 10km north of Gympie. There is also another good rest stop just north of the town.
I dumped my old rigid mattress at the local landfill and fitted my new slim-line flexible foam mattress. This allows me easy access to underbed storage, gas bottle and battery compartment. A huge improvement.
