This is a stand out camp situated between Cloncurry and Mt Isa. Built in the 50’s by Mary Kathleen Uranium Mine as a water supply for it mining town it is now available for free camping. A man-made oasis in the desert. There are two separate camps. One is closer to the highway and is self-sufficient only, camps are spread around the banks of the dam. The second is located behind the dam wall along the Corrella River, it has toilet facilities and is very pretty but not as spacious.
I have created a tentative itinerary to be in Alice Springs by the 14th October and leave Alice Springs on the 21st October bound for the Flinders Ranges.
