Wild Budgerigar

This looks like a good camp. Just off the highway via a good track located beside a salt lake with Internet and so far no other campers. Nothing says SA more for me than camping by a salt lake.

The desert plant communities south of Coober Pedy are looking superb after the recent rains. Wildflowers mixed with every shade of green. The shrubs have all got a fresh flush of new growth, making good while there is still moisture in the soil.

Today I saw my first wild Budgerigar. I suspect I have seen them before in flocks but I wasn’t close enough to positively identify them, today I could. Getting a photo might be a job for my trusty Nikon 3500 camera.

I ended my indecision about going to Tasmania after SA by booking a ticket on the ferry for the 13th December.
