Camooweal

Brolga Pair in Camooweal Lagoon

Camp Location: Camooweal Lagoon

This is my last camp in Qld before entering the NT and another harrowing border crossing. Who are you? Where are you from? Where are you going. Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party.  If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear. You are not supposed to be here.

I calculated on the drive here from Mt Isa that this is my 5th visit to Camooweal along the Barkley Highway  heading west toward the Northern Territory and beyond. This is my third time at this camp. Even though it is in Wiki Camps it is not sign posted from the highway which makes it a quiet and restful place to stop.

Between Mt Isa and Camooweal you leave the Gulf river catchments and enter the Lake Eyre Basin. Camooweal is situated on the Georgina River which flows in extremely wet years into Lake Eyre.

You will see below my first attempts at wildlife photography using my Nikon 3500 camera.
