Essential Outback

Essential Outback

Theme Notes:

“The Outback is the vast, remote interior of Australia. The term “the Outback” is generally used to refer to locations that are comparatively more remote than those areas named “the bush” which, colloquially, can refer to any lands outside the main urban areas.
While often envisaged as being arid, the Outback regions extend from the northern to southern Australian coastlines, and encompass a number of climatic zones; including tropical and monsoonal climates in northern areas, arid areas in the ‘red centre’ and semi-arid and temperate climates in southerly regions.
Geographically, the Outback is unified by a combination of factors, most notably a low human population density, a largely intact, natural environment and, in many places, low-intensity land uses such as pastoralism (livestock grazing) in which production is reliant on the natural environment.” Wikipedia

This demo site/blog is targeted to the intrepid outback enthusiast. It attempts to capture the essence of the Australian outback and convey a message that the outback is an ancient and spiritual land that is at once beautiful and harsh. The outback gives to its visitors who go with an open mind both a sense of awe and a deep respect for land and culture.
